A team of 21 Ontario Rotarians & Friends distributed 65 bicycles to needy students at Banyan Learning Tree School located on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. Our team was comprised of Gravenhurst area residents Jim & Marlyn Goodwin, George & Liz Rice, Lisa McCoy, Sharon Foley, Lynda Valcourt, Steve and Janice Hayhurst and Richard Augustine. Area cottagers Kathy and Clare Glazer-Chow joined our team along with Minden Rotarian Bill Obee and Sudbury Sunrisers Rotarians Darlene Palmer and Debra Betty who brought along five students from Cambrian College in Sudbury.
The special ceremony here was recorded and broadcast on Cambodia Bayon TV. Here, the Rotary Wheels for Learning team also distributed 65 mosquito nets, dental supplies and made a special donation of eyeglasses to the Childrens Surgical Hospital in Phnom Penh.
The team distributed an astounding 1,231 bicycles at 12 locations in several provinces throughout rural Cambodia. (http://rotarywheelsforlearning.blogspot.ca)
