Over the next 3 and a half weeks, our team from the following clubs (Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Haliburton, Bridgenorth-Ennismore-Lakefield, Parry Sound, Barrie-Kempenfelt and Matheson), will be busy traveling around Cambodia preparing and distributing 1,333 bicycles to Cambodian school children!
While in Cambodia, the team took a tour of the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh and then began to give out 100 bicycles!
On February 1, Karly Little, daughter of Ken Little Gravenhurst Rotary Club presented a bicycle at KNGO School. She and Kathleen Cook, daughter of Mary Cook of Gravenhurst have joined our Rotary Wheels for Learning Team here in Cambodia for a few days. Great to have these young gals with us to help us with the preparation and distribution of bikes to Cambodian Schools!
After distributing another 385 bikes, a day off saw them exploring many of the Battambang sites in Cambodia, including it's famous BAMBOO TRAIN SYSTEM. No shock absorbers on this crazy train, but what fun!
Rotary Club of Bracebridge member, AG Margaret Walton for Rotary District 7010 visited their club's sponsored sewing course recipient here in Battambang Cambodia! While at the shop, where she is learning to be a seamstress, Margaret presented her with their club's banner.
It was all part of our DAY 7 activities on the Rotary Wheels for Learning 2014 Bicycle Distribution Trip!
Khlaing Norak is also teaching the students Dental Hygiene during the bicycle distributions at the various schools!
Many thanks to Rotarians, Clubs, Organizations and Individuals who donated towards this cause!!
