Our volunteer Honu Dawson will remain in Cambodia for a couple of months until February 2014. Honu is enjoying her time with the kindergarten class.
In the picture above, Honu can be seen enjoying
Independence Day celebrations.
Houn has been with the group of Toronto Area Rotarians that arrived in Takeo to visit projects supported by the CLMF and AMFW.
They have been visiting landmine survivors, Youen Sambat and Ek Kruel who were trained in sustainable farming and chicken rearing by Ven Ban. A visit followed to the Banyan Learning Tree (BLT), school "Happy Gecko" to meet the students and enjoy a delicious lunch cooked by teacher, Phearom. They then travelled to see Ven Ban's farm to better understand the training programs for the landmine survivors. The group also generously donated 100kg of rice to needy families at BLT school "Happy Gecko".
More photos can be found on our Picasa Photo Album (Click here). We look forward to hearing more about Honu's volunteer activities.
Banyan Learning Tree Schools in Takeo and in Phnom Penh provide on-site accommodation for volunteers.
We welcome volunteers as not only the students but the teachers also benefit from working with a native English speaker to help with their pronounciation.
