North American Bridge Masters Barbara Seagram and Patti Lee came to Muskoka to give their one of their famed all-day Bridge Seminars on September 27, 2012. This was a Muskoka First for them!
85 People attended the event, which raised $4,369, was held at the Gravenhurst Seniors Centre. It began with registration and coffee at 9:30 am, a seminar with Barbara Seagram at 10:00 am, and then a light lunch. Game followed at 1:00 pm, along with a silent auction.
MANY THANKS to Barbara Seagram and Patti Lee for their continued support of the Banyan Learning Tree Schools in Cambodia with this fabulous FIRST Fundraising Bridge Event of it's kind for Muskoka!
Also greatly appreciated were the bags and bags of donated items Barbara and Patti brought to our fundraiser. These items will be taken to Cambodia by the Rotary group going in January 2013.
Many of the children at the schools (that Barbara, Patti and the bridge players that attend these fundraisers have built and provided furniture, equipment and supplies for) have parents who are landmine victims. "The teachers at these schools are wonderful people who also do outreach work for landmine-affected families. It is now VERY important that we focus on the sustainability of these projects. We would do more harm than good if we merely build and then walk away", says Barbara Seagram.
Thank you to ALL who attended for your GENEROUS donations AND SUPPORT.
